Water Polo - Girls

2024 Season Information

To keep up with the latest news as the season approaches, please email IHSwaterpoloclub@gmail.com to be added to our TeamSnap list.

We can’t wait for the Spring Water Polo season to start!  Water polo is the most exciting sport you may have never heard of! Our players range from water polo novices to players with years of competitive experience.

No water polo experience needed. All are welcome; you just need to be able to swim. We'll teach you the rest!

Head Coach: Laura Rudolph

  • Coach Laura is very skilled at working with athletes at all experience levels and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Coach Laura was named HS Girls Coach of the Year in 2019 after coaching our then-underdog team to a 3rd place finish at State! In 2022 she led a team of 8, including new players, to 4th place in Division 1!  The majority of our 2023 team were freshmen who had never played water polo before; the entire league was very impressed with how quickly they learned from Coach Laura!
  • Laura has been playing water polo since age 14, including varsity polo at UC Santa Cruz, where she earned team MVP, best offensive player, and most inspirational awards.

Note:  As a club sport, water polo is pay to play.  See “costs” section below.  Financial aid is available.

ELIGIBILITY/REQUIREMENTS

  • To be eligible for the Varsity team, you must be an Ingraham High School student or an independent school student who lives in the Ingraham attendance area.
  • Other students whose own schools don’t have a water polo team can practice with Ingraham, play in JV games and non-league games. They also only need to pay 50% of the season fee.
  • NEW! Current American Water Polo membership is required, $55, to get in the pool. The league requires all our players to have this to participate in high school water polo due to insurance.
    • Link https://americanwaterpolo.org/join-now/
      • Select “Athlete” from first drop down menu
      • Select “Scholastic Athlete” from second

      • Complete registration and pay (email IHSwaterpoloclub@gmail.com if you need financial help)
      • Very important! Forward your confirmation email to IHSwaterpoloclub@gmail.com Our coach needs to turn in a complete roster with membership numbers to the Washington Water Polo board for our team to play.
    • Pay the season fee of $450. **Financial aid available! We want everyone to be able to play!**
    • Purchase a team suit if you don’t already have one from the 2023 season (financial aid available). We will use the same team suit as last year.   A water polo-specific suit is needed for games, though a regular one-piece swimsuit is just fine (and more comfortable) for practice.
      • We are doing a group order at the beginning of the season.
      • We’ll order a sizing kit and/or you can reach out to any of the returning players who all have a team suit.
      • Jeni will place the group order for the team to save on shipping and time. Then you may Venmo her money to cover it, or we’ll use donations to cover the cost if you need financial aid.

  • Season fee: $450 per player, by check payable to Ingraham Water Polo Club.
  • Player fees do not cover all costs for the season, but a few families have pledged donations to allow us to offer the full program to benefit the most athletes possible. We will gratefully accept any additional donations you are able to make toward program costs and scholarships. Ingraham Water Polo Club is a nonprofit organization and your donations may be tax-deductible
  • Partial scholarship requests: We want everyone to have the opportunity to play. If the cost is prohibitive for your family, please contact us to discuss your needs. We truly want to help everyone have the opportunity to play!
